The socio-emotional trajectory of children during the COVID-19 pandemic was likely shaped by their pre-pandemic susceptibility to pronounced socio-emotional challenges and the access to resources available to them. Focusing on the socio-emotional adaptation of elementary school-aged children from low-income neighborhoods in Germany, this study analyzed two five-month periods of school closure due to the pandemic, exploring associated determinants. On three separate days, both before and after the closing of school, home-room teachers documented the distress of 365 children (mean age 845, 53% female), providing data on their family histories and inner resources. The workers' compensation insurance disapproval is assessed in accordance with the type of disease or injury experienced. Employing two machine-learning techniques alongside a logistic regression model, a prediction model for disapproval within worker's compensation insurance was developed.
A substantial increase in disapproval rates for workers' compensation claims was observed among female workers, younger employees, technicians, and associate professionals, as evident in the 42,219 cases analyzed. A disapproval model for workers' compensation insurance was constructed by us after the feature selection process. The prediction model, concerning disapproval of worker diseases as per worker's compensation insurance, showed a good result. In contrast, the model for disapproval of worker injuries demonstrated only a moderate result.
Based on foundational Korean workers' compensation data, this study constitutes the first attempt to map the status of and forecast disapproval in worker's compensation insurance.
